Uncle Russ, the boys and your wives, and grandchildren of Aunt Shirl,
My sympathy and prayers go out to you all. I know it has been a long road, but the love you all showed each other was an inspiration to many. You are a beautiful family.
I will always remember sitting at my grandparents (Harvey and Bertha's) with Aunt Shirl and listening to her talk about her family, the Pats, our disgust with the Sox (back when they weren't winning) and just hearing her laugh. She was a smart, energetic woman who I always enjoyed listening to. She always made us feel like she was happy to see us and cared about what we were saying. She was genuine. As we moved away, we didn't see her, but have many fond memories. Having 4 boys of my own now, I can only pray that I am as lucky as she was to be surrounded by a loving family.....and to have it grow with compassionate and loving grandchildren is something I'm sure was her proudest accomplishment. Uncle Russ, the dedication and love you had for each other was exceptional. Be at peace knowing she is in heaven probably singing her heart out and watching over you all. Love to all of you. Victor, My deepest sympathies to you and your family. I will surely miss seeing Shirley's smiling face and pleasant disposition. It was so wonderful to see how happy she was when you, Russ, Nicole and Liz would be by to share time with her at meals. I know how loved she was by all her family. I have such fond memories of her selling me my first life insurance policy when I was in my early 20s (a long,long time ago) and the wonderful interactions I have had with her over all these years. She was truly a special person. You have been such a wonderful, dedicated and devoted husband. She was a lucky woman to have you and I know you feel the same about her. I wanted to leave this message on the website to you and your family because I will be unable to attend the calling hours or the mass. I have a family wedding and I will be away for the weekend. Please extend my sympathies to your family. I will miss seeing Shirley and I will miss seeing you, Russ, Nicole and Liz at D'Youville. It will certainly not be the same. Brenda
