William Parlee Obituary

Bill Parlee passed peacefully at home after a long illness, with his beloved wife and dedicated caregiver, Robin, by his side. Raised in Waltham and Weston, and a proud graduate of Weston High School, Bill lived his entire life in Massachusetts and celebrated his 80th birthday here. Those classmates of his 1962 reunion class remember Bill’s smiling face on the screen as their last, sweet memory of him.

Bill earned his undergraduate degree at Tufts University, and was a lifelong learner,  receiving multiple graduate degrees in engineering and business management from the University of Pennsylvania and Northeastern University. His career took him to Eastman Kodak, MITRE, and Unisys, returning to MITRE and serving over 30 years there before retiring in 2013, as a Principal Multidiscipline System Engineer.  He was well respected by his peers at MITRE and the Air Force colleagues with whom he worked, sharing his collaborative nature and hardworking spirit with any team of co-workers.

He leaves behind 2 sisters, Beth Cronin and her husband Dan (NC), and Bonny Parlee and her partner Chris Sutton (MA) and a sister-in-law Susan Parlee, and nephews and nieces, and their families. He was predeceased by his brother Bob, and their parents.

Bill was a gentleman in his values and his way of being: patient, loving, forgiving, kind, gracious and caring. Steadfast and peaceful, he would approach any problem by listening carefully and thinking positively and deliberatively, and then elegantly solve difficult puzzles in both work and life. Bill had a deep capacity for joy and happiness, and enjoyed the ocean, travel, and the antics of their many dogs. Gifted with a sense of humor, an abiding love of family and a total adoration of his wife, he shared his warm and generous soul. Bill loved music, gardening, and model trains. Bill’s eyes sparkled when he smiled and even in illness, he treated his many caregivers and friends to that special smile. The family invites you to donate to the charity of your choice to further bring peace, joy, and love into the world in Bill’s memory. In accordance with Bill's wishes, services will be held privately.
