Theresa C. Poitras

Theresa C. (Christian) Poitras, age 93, a resident of Merrimack, NH and formerly of Lowell, MA, passed away suddenly on October 1, 2024 at her home.  She was the wife of the late Amie L. Poitras and the late Edwin W. Poitras, Sr.

She was born in Lowell, MA on December 31, 1930, the daughter of Charles and Rose (Reeves) Christian and sister of William and Roland Christian. 

Theresa enjoyed music, singing and dancing, playing bingo, word search puzzles, jigsaw puzzles, going out to eat and for ice cream and nature watching; but her favorite pastime was spending time with her family.  In past years, she volunteered with her daughter at her granddaughter’s school, as watching children play and have fun brought her much happiness.

She is survived by six children, Janet M. Poitras, Annette R. Sullivan and her husband Jack, Susan T. Alario and her husband Ralph, Ronald J. Poitras, Debra A. Landry and her husband Todd, and Christine C. Gacek and her husband Mark; fourteen grandchildren, Daniel Poitras, Jr., Theresa Wollen, Jason Bishop, Jennifer Blake, Jessica Bishop, Michael Sullivan, Shawn Sullivan, Ashleigh Randall, Steven Alario, Cyndi Poitras, Brittany Poitras, Ann Moran, Richard Poitras, Jr. and Brooke Landry; twenty great grandchildren and three great-great grandchildren; a sister-in-law, Georgine Roy; a daughter-in-law, JoAnne Desmarais; and several nieces and nephews. She was also predeceased by two sons, Daniel E. Poitras and Richard A. Poitras, a daughter-in-law Elizabeth A. Poitras and a dear friend Rita Nault.

Relatives and friends will be received at the TYNGSBOROUGH FUNERAL HOME 4 Cassaway Dr., Tyngsborough, on Friday, October 4, from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. Her Funeral Service will take place immediately following in the Funeral Home 1 p.m.  Burial in St. Joseph Cemetery, Chelmsford.
