Steven James Calandrella, 60, of Largo, Florida passed away on July 27, 2023.
Steven was born in Somerville, MA to the late Richard and Anne Marie (Nancy) Calandrella.
Steven is survived by his wife, Tammy Calandrella; his four daughters and their spouses, Kristen Benjamin and Joseph Callahan, Lauren Calandrella and Michael Flynn, Sarah and Damion Taylor and Kimberly and Tyler Arsenault; step daughter and spouse, Kearstin and Tyler Robey. Six grandchildren, Logan Benjamin, Paisley Benjamin, Demi Callahan, Michael Flynn Jr, Cole Taylor, and Quinn Robey; and his father-in-law, Thomas Dubois “Pappy.”
Steven also leaves behind his P-Tuck fishing buddies; Mike Shea, Tom Prasky, Ron Keohane and Jimmy Shea; and many life-long friends including, Donnie and Jeanie Murrary.
Steven is best known as an avid fisherman. He was able to pass along his love of fishing to his grandson, Logan. He yearned for his Patuckaway State Park fishing trip with the guys going back 20+ years now. That was quite possibly his favorite week of the year. His love for P-Tuck was so profound; Steven and Tammy chose it as their wedding venue in September 2014. They have always shared a love of camping and the outdoors.
Steven is a hard worker and perfectionist, always lending a hand to those in need.
He would sit in his work shop for hours working on various projects with his girls. His work shop was well loved with his meticulously placed tools (ask his friends they used to get a kick out of switching two screwdrivers to see if he would notice and he always did!)
After recently retiring from UPS where Steven was a dedicated truck driver for 20+ years, Steven and Tammy moved to the west coast of Florida. Steven would constantly check in with his daughters and grandchildren and would always end his phone calls with an “I love you.” It brings some comfort to his girls as they know their last words to him were, “I love you.”
Relatives and friends are invited to his visitation on Thursday, August 17th from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m. at the Tyngsborough Funeral Home, 4 Cassaway Dr. Tyngsborough, MA. Funeral services will be held privately for the family.
In lieu of flowers, we are asking for donations to Family Reach at https://familyreach.org/ in honor of Steve’s granddaughter leukemia survivor, Paisley.
