Somasundaram Kannappan

Somasundaram Kannappan,a resident of Karaikudi, India passed away on July 31, 2024 at age 83, surrounded by his loving family. He was the beloved husband of Vimala Somasundaram, with whom he shared 55 years of marriage.

Somasundaram was the son of Kannappan Sivaraman and Kalyani Kannappan of Paganeri. He graduated from Thiagaraja college at Madurai and with a graduate degree in Biology.  After teaching for over 30 years, he retired as the Head of the  Zoology department at Alagappa University.

After retiring in 2000, he often visited New England area and loved spending time with family

Somasundaram is survived by his wife, Vimala Somasundaram; his daughters Vijaya Ramakrishnan and son-in-law Ramakrishnan Ramasamy; Sujatha Meyyappan and son-in-law Meyyappan Meyyappan;  his grandchildren Kathir Meyyappan Meyyappan and Sudar Somasundaram Meyyappan; his sisters Parvathi Sundaram, Manonmani Manivasagam, Kamala Karuppiah, Mangai Singaram and brother Murugappan Kannappan.

Relatives and friends will be received at the Tyngsborough Funeral Home, 4 Cassaway Drive, Tyngsborough on August 4, from 9am to 11am. The cremation services will be held at Merrimack Valley Crematory, 42 Main Street, Salem NH at 11:45 am.
