Sister Marie d’Entremont, s.c.o.
LOWELL – Sister Marie d’Entremont (Rose de Jésus) died at d’Youville Senior Care Center on Sunday, February 6, at the age of 92, having been professed as a Sister of Charity of Ottawa for 69 years.
Sr. Marie was born in Calais, Maine. She was the adopted daughter of Lucien and Marie Rosalie (Deveau) d’Entremont. Her father being a Canadian civil servant, Marie attended schools in Ottawa and in Halifax, Nova Scotia. She returned to the United States to enter the Congregation of the Sisters of Charity of Ottawa in Lowell, MA in 1951. Sr. Marie professed her vows as a religious in 1953. She obtained a Bachelor’s degree in music from Rivier College and certification as a science teacher.
She taught on the elementary level in Lowell and Ogdensburg, NY, then on the secondary level as a science teacher at St. Joseph High School in Lowell from 1970 to 1993. In addition to her classroom teaching, she also taught piano to private students until her retirement in 2007.
She leaves a cousin, Helen Cronin of Andover, MA.
The Sisters would like to express their sincere gratitude to the staff at D'Youville Senior Care Center, especially the ones on Commodore Unit, for their very special care of Sr. Marie over the past 10 years.
Funeral Services and burial for Sister Marie were held privately.
