Roger A. Parent, age 86, a resident of Hudson, NH, passed away peacefully at the Community Hospice House in Merrimack, NH on Friday, May 17, 2024, with his loving wife by his side. He was the beloved husband of Elaine R. (Gil) Parent, with whom he shared 49 years of marriage.
He was born in Lowell on August 22, 1937, a son of the late Elie and Jeanne R. (Roy) Parent. He was educated in the Lowell school system and was a graduate of Lowell High School. Roger enlisted into the U.S. Navy and served until his honorable discharge in 1963.
He enjoyed many years riding on his motorcycle and weightlifting. He was always available with helping hand if anyone needed it.
Prior to his retirement, he was employed for many years as a machinist.
Surviving him in addition to his wife are a brother and sister-in-law, Albert and Elaine Parent of NH; a son, Ed Parent; a daughter and son-in-law, Patty Urquhart and her husband Ross; five grandchildren, Keith, Craig, Marissa, Matthew and Sam; and a brother-in-law, John DiGiambattista. He was the uncle to Tara Peacock and her husband Scott, Elaine Paolucci and Lisa Kelley; and many nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his beloved son Michael, two brothers, Donald and Richard and sister, Jean.
Relatives and friends will be received at the TYNGSBOROUGH FUNERAL HOME 4 Cassaway Dr., Tyngsborough on Wednesday, May 22, from 4 to 7 p.m. His Funeral Mass will take place on Thursday, May 23, at 10 a.m. at St. Kathryn Parish, 4 Dracut, Rd., Hudson, NH. Burial in St. Joseph Cemetery, Chelmsford. In lieu of flowers, those wishing may make a donation in Roger’s name to the Department of Veterans Affairs at http://www.pay.gov
