Roger Martin Obituary

Roger L. Martin, age 78, a resident of Dracut, passed away peacefully, at his home on Thursday, January 25, 2024, surrounded by his loving family. He was the husband of Adele “Dee” (Monbleau) Martin, with whom he shared over 53 years of marriage.

Born in Lowell on March 25, 1945, he was a son of the late Omer L. and Laurette G. (Bergeron) Martin. He was a graduate of St. Louis School and St. Joseph High School. After high school Roger enlisted into the U.S. Air Force and served during the Vietnam War, from 1963 until his honorable discharge in 1967.

Once he returned home from the service, he continued his education at the University of Lowell, where he earned his Bachelor’s Degree of Science in Accounting and later received his MBA from New Hampshire College.

Roger had a long, successful career working in sales with Malden Mills, Toshiba, and most recently for Laer Realty. In later years, he also worked at his family’s funeral home, assisting with visitations and processions.

He was a lifelong parishioner of St. Francis of Assisi Parish in Dracut, where he served on many committees, assisted as an usher and volunteered as needed.

Roger enjoyed golf, watching movies, crossword puzzles, reading, renovating homes and spending time at Newfound Lake with family. When his daughters were younger, he enjoyed coaching softball, taking them to games and practices near and far and was their biggest fan. He was the family handyman and was constantly working on a project around the house or in his garden. Above all, his favorite pastime was spending time with his grandchildren; he loved attending their sporting events, supporting them in all their endeavors and he was always eager to talk about their accomplishments.

Surviving him in addition to his wife Dee, are three daughters and  their husbands, Kimberly and James Bonfilio, Kristine and Clint Baptiste and Karen and Greg Chenevert; five grandchildren, Anthony, Mia, Gianna, Andrew and Lauren; a brother, Roland Martin; a sister and brother-in-law, Diane and Richard Greenwood; his mother-in-law, Laurette Kauker; two sisters-in-law and a brother-in-law, Elaine Hudon and Janet Roth and her husband Michael; several nieces, nephews, cousins and many dear friends. He was also the brother of the late Jeannine Pellerin, Raymond Martin and brother-in-law of the late Joan Martin and Paul Hudon.

Relatives and friends will be received at the TYNGSBOROUGH FUNERAL HOME 4 Cassaway Dr., Tyngsborough on Friday, Feb. 2, from 4 to 7 p.m.  His Funeral Mass will be celebrated on Saturday morning at 10 a.m. in St. Francis of Assisi Parish, 115 Wheeler Rd., Dracut.
