Roger E. Chandonnet, Sr., age 78, a former longtime resident of Lowell and more recently of Chelmsford, passed on Thursday, April 18, 2024. He was the husband of the late Lynda J. (Christie) Chandonnet.
Born in Lowell on March 21, 1946, he was a son of the late Gerard F. and Yvette M. (Lemieux) Chandonnet. He was educated in the Lowell School system and enlisted into the United States Army in 1967 and served during the Vietnam War until his honorable discharge in 1969. During his time in the service he received the National Defense Service Medal, the Vietnam Service Medal, the Vietnam Campaign Medal, Two Overseas Service Bars and a Marksman.
Roger worked as a painter for many years and enjoyed playing golf, bowling and was an avid poker player.
He is survived by a son and daughter-in-law, Roger Chandonnet, Jr. and his wife Tracie of Chelmsford; a daughter and son-in-law, Victoria Reeves and her husband Darrell of Fitchburg; six grandchildren, a great grandson, a god child, Ida Chandonnet, two brothers and a sister-in-law, Donald Chandonnet of Dracut and Gerard and Priscilla Chandonnet of FL; three sisters and three-brothers-in-law, Dorothy and Joseph Caron of NC, Theresa and Demetri Lee of NH and Irene and Randy Belair of NH; and many nieces and nephews.
Relatives and Friends will be received at the TYNGSBOROUGH FUNERAL HOME, 4 Cassaway Dr, Tyngsborough, on Thursday, May 2, 2024 from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. A Prayer Service with Military Honors will take place immediately following at 1 p.m. In lieu of flowers, those wishing may make a donation in his memory to a veteran’s organization of your choice.
