Loving Husband, Father, Grandfather, Great Grandfather, and Friend.
Robert Joseph Girard Michaud, age 88, a longtime resident of Dracut, passed away peacefully on Saturday November 9, 2024, surrounded by his loving family.
He was the loving husband of the late Jeannine T. Michaud, with whom he shared 63 years of marriage. Robert was born in Lowell MA on July 23, 1936, son of the late Walter P and Germaine (Rocheleau) Michaud.
He received his education in the Lowell schools and began work with his father for Walter P. Michaud and Sons Plastering. He then spent time serving in the USA National Guard. Following his service, he worked as the Grounds Keeper at Mitre Corp in Bedford, MA, and part time at BASF, also in Bedford, MA. Due to a progressive diagnosis of Macular Degeneration, he was forced to take on early retirement.
A communicant of the former St. Jeanne d’Arc Parish of Lowell, currently a communicant of Saint Marguerite d’Youville Parish of Dracut.
As a ‘self-proclaimed’ member of the Rat Pack, he loved to sing with and to his family, friends and staff at Fresenius. He enjoyed dancing with his wife and vacationing with family and friends at Lake Winnipesaukee, Cape Cod, Waterville Valley, Merrymeeting Lake, and visiting family in Canada. He was a member of the former Pawtucketville Social Club. He also loved pizza nights with his grandchildren and great-grandchildren and spending time with relatives and friends, and the chaos of family holidays.
He will be deeply missed by his family. He is survived by his five children, Roma G. Fauvel of Dracut, Yvette A. Collins of Dracut and her companion Todd Arsenault, Robert W. Michaud, and his wife Piedad of Nashua NH, Paula F. Williams and her husband Kenneth of Lowell, Adelard ‘Del’ Michaud and his fiancé Heidi Miller of Dracut.
Also survived by his grandchildren and great grandchildren which he cherished, Dr. Elicia (Fauvel) DeParolesa, husband Chris and son Cameron, Jeremy Fauvel, Wesley Caron and sons Noah and Nicholas, Rorrie Collins, wife Jennifer and sons Rorrie and Ronan, Selina Collins, wife Britnee and daughter Leona, Garrett Collins, Christopher Michaud, wife Caitlin and sons Bradley and Camdin, and extended family, Alejandro Upegui, Luisa and Carlos Orjuela, Christian Schubert, Holly, Dylan, Dean and kids.
Also survived by his brothers Walter C. (Sonny) Michaud and wife Pauline, Raymond (Gus) Michaud, and several nieces and nephews. He will be missed by his long time Arkansas Drive neighbors who became cherished friends to him and his family. He was the father-in-law of the late Normand C. Fauvel and the brother of the late Walter, Yvette, Leo (Coq), Gerard (Jerry) Michaud.
Robert’s family would like to express their sincere thanks to the nurses and staff at Fresenius Dialysis center in Lowell, and also Tufts Medical and Hospice for their support, and to all who inspired him to continue singing through the years.
Relatives and friends will be received at the TYNGSBOROUGH FUNERAL HOME 4 Cassaway Drive, Tyngsborough on Thursday, Nov. 14, from 4 to 7 p.m. His Funeral Mass will be celebrated on Friday, Nov. 15, at 10 a.m. at Sainte Marguerite d’Youville Parish, 1340 Lakeview Avenue, Dracut. Burial will follow in St. Joseph Cemetery, Chelmsford.
