Robert A. Bates

Robert “Bobby” Bates, age 61, a resident of Methuen, passed away peacefully on Thursday, August 10, 2023, at the Care Dimensions Hospice House in Lincoln, MA of a long illness. 

He was born in Glace Bay, Nova Scotia on June 7, 1962, and was a son of the late Joseph Bates and the late Ethel (MacDonald) (Bates) (Mason) Galan.  

Bobby was a handyman and real “Jack of all trades”. He had a big heart and enjoyed helping others with any type of project. He also enjoyed fishing and spending time with his family and friends. Bobby will be remembered for his sense of humor, and his love for everyone. 

He is survived by his daughter and a son-in-law, Tara and Tyrone Adams, two grandchildren, Kharter Goodridge and Julia Adams; a brother, John “Frankie” Bates, his girlfriend Marilyn Lillis; a sister Bonnie (Mason) John; nieces, nephews a long time girlfriend Cheryl Grimard and many dear friends and family. 

He was predeceased by his loving daughter Kimberly Bates, his brother’s Gerald and James Bates and his sister’s Deborah Bates and Wanda (Bates) Tilton.

A celebration of life ceremony will be held at a later date.
