Obituary

Richard E "Dick" Clark

Richard E. Clark, 82, of Merrimac, MA It is with great sadness that his wife, Lillian "Binky" Howell Clark announces the passing of Richard due to complications of Covid-19 and many years of Parkinson's Disease on Sunday, December 13, 2020 at Holy Family Hospital of Methuen. Born in Melrose on July 27, 1938, Richard was the son of the late George and Grace (Simmons) Clark. He grew up in Saugus and graduated from Saugus High School and Plus School of Business of Boston at a time when programming and operations of IBM Equipment was first being taught. Richard joined the United States Army in 1958 and was honorably discharged in 1962. He moved to Merrimac in the late 60ties when his company Malden Mills relocated to Lawrence. He retired from Malden Mills as their Manager of Special Projects in MIS after working for them for his entire 43 year career in Computers. In his younger years he loved hunting and skiing up in Maine and fishing on the family’s "Grace C" boat as he ran up visiting Maine's coastline and Islands and down to moor in PTown and out to Cuttyhunk. Richard loved spending time with his wife "Binky" traveling or cruising around this country or Canada. He was his happiest when he was fixing things and at home, could always be found outside working in the yard or in his Shed "his home away from home". He mostly enjoyed the many hours of visiting with his family and friends. He was a quiet man with a kind and generous heart, a man whose quick witted quips of humor will be sadly missed. Besides his wife Lillian, he is survived by his two daughters, Deborah Ford of Harwich Port, MA and Theresa Clark of Rockport, MA. His sister Dorothy Galluzzo of Burlington and his grandsons, Danial Ford of New Zealand and Joshua Ford of Brighton. His brother-in-law Dale Howell and wife Deborah of Somersworth, his sisters-In-law Karen Cormier of Pepperell and Wanda Cloutier of Kissimmee, FL. He is also survived by many nieces, nephews, dear friends and neighbors. He was predeceased by his grandson Ryan Dudman of Rockport and his In-laws Robert and Lillian Howell of Dracut and brothers-in-law Alan Howell of Lowell and Arthur Galluzzo of Burlington.
