Reta A. (McLaughlin) MacFarlane, age 71, a resident of Milford, NH, passed away
peacefully on Friday, January 9, 2025 at the Elliot Hospital, with her family by her side.
She was the beloved wife of Glenn R. MacFarlane, with whom she shared 52 years of
marriage.
Born in Halifax, Nova Scotia on May 28, 1954, she was the daughter of the late
Reginald and Mavis (Hendsbee) McLaughlin. After moving to the United States at the
age of 10, Reta was raised in Melrose, MA and was a graduate of Melrose High School.
Reta and Glenn married in 1974 just as Glenn joined the Air Force. Reta was a devoted
military spouse for the next 25 years retiring back to New Hampshire to be closer to
family and friends.
Reta loved taking care of her family, especially her grandchildren, and she was always
cooking, baking delicious treats, and making sure they had activities to do. Prior to her
retirement, she worked at Michaels as a custom art framer and at home personal
caregiver.
Surviving her in addition to her loving husband are four children, Penny MacFarlane,
Kimberly MacFarlane, Sean MacFarlane and his wife Andrea and Glenn MacFarlane
and his wife Brianna; five grandchildren, Madison, Simon, Lily, Sean and Lucy; and a
close longtime family friend, Daniel Dibenedetto.
In accordance with her wishes, services will be private.
In lieu of flowers please make a charitable donation in Reta’s name to The Mary & John
Elliot Charitable Foundation supporting the Solinksy Center for Cancer Care at the
Elliot.
