Raymond V. “Ray” Tremblay Jr, age 80, a well-known disk jockey, passed away on Thursday, December 12, 2024, with his family by his side. He was the beloved husband of Irene D. (Cote) Tremblay, with whom he shared over 60 wonderful years of marriage.
Born in Lowell on January 5, 1944, he was the son of the late Raymond V. and Marcelle (Rheault) Tremblay Sr. He was a graduate of St. Joseph’s High School in 1962. He retired from Honeywell after 25 years.
Ray began his disk jockey career of 65 years in December of 1959 at the age of 15. He played at school dances, weddings, anniversaries, fundraisers and the list goes on. In 1968 he became the weekend voice for WLLH in Lowell until 1980 when he moved over to WCAP in Lowell, playing the Sunday morning “oldies” show until 1982. Ray was the DJ for the
Dracut and Lowell Senior Centers. He also served as President and DJ for the Senior Citizen Club of Dracut. In 2019 Ray received a citation from the City of Lowell for his service of making the city a better place with music. He had a passion for music and more so for “seeing people dance”.
Ray was a longtime communicant of St. Mary Magdalen Parish in Tyngsborough and a lector at St. Rita’s Church in Lowell Ma.
Surviving him in addition to his wife Irene are four daughters and four sons-in-law, Denise and Daniel Dube, Dianne and Walter Jezak, Suzanne and Bob Trepanier and RaeAnne and Ron Messina; five grandchildren, Robert Trepanier, Jennnifer Dube, Heather Cardoza and her husband Brad, Samantha and Joshua Jezak; a great grandchild, Payton Casiano.
Relatives and friends will be received at the TYNGSBOROUGH FUNERAL HOME 4 Cassaway Drive, Tyngsborough on Wednesday, Dec. 18, from 2 to 6 p.m. His Funeral Mass will be celebrated on Thursday morning at 10 a.m. at the Parish of Saint Mary Magdalen, 95 Lakeview Avenue, Tyngsborough. Burial will follow in St. Joseph Cemetery, Chelmsford. Those wishing to attend the Funeral are asked to meet directly at church.
