Mildred “Midge” Rita (McGinn) Poirier, age 86, a resident of Tyngsborough and the beloved wife of the late Eugene “Clark” Poirier, passed away on Monday, March 30, 2026, at her home, after a long and courageous battle with COPD.
Born in Lowell on November 29, 1939, she was the daughter of the late John L. McGinn and Rita G. (Jacques) (McGinn) and Leon Fontaine.
Midge was a communicant of St. Mary Magdalen Church, a member of Le Cercle Jeanne Mance, the Dracut Arts & Crafts club and a longtime active member and volunteer of the Tyngsborough Senior Center.
She was an avid golfer and was a member at many golfing clubs. Midge loved to travel, here and abroad, and went on many cruises. She also looked forward to playing cards, cribbage, going bowling and spending time with family and friends.
In her younger years, she worked as a hairdresser and then began a career working as a supervisor for Honeywell and later Raytheon.
She is survived by her aunt Madeleine Jacques, eight nieces and nephews: William McGinn, Jr., and Derek McGinn of FL, Michael McGinn and Douglas McGinn of Nebraska, Lori (Poirier) Crouch and James Poirier of Virginia, Janice Poirier of Maryland, Joseph Poirier of Amesbury, twenty-three grand and great nieces and nephews and many, many dear friends. She was also predeceased by her brother William McGinn and brother-in-law, Alfred Richard Poirier.
Midge’s family would like to express their deepest gratitude to her longtime friend and companion, Roger Downing, for all he did for her these past years.
Relatives and friends will be received at the TYNGSBOROUGH FUNERAL HOME, 4 Cassaway Drive, Tyngsborough on Friday, April 10, from 9 to 10 a.m. Her Funeral Mass will be celebrated immediately following at 10:30 a.m. at St. Mary Magdalen Church, 95 Lakeview Avenue Tyngsborough. Burial will follow at St. Joseph Cemetery, Chelmsford. In lieu of flowers, those wishing to may make a donation in her memory to St. Mary Magdalen Church, 95 Lakeview Ave., Tyngsborough.
