Maurice “Blacky” H. Matte
DEERFIELD, NH – Maurice H. Matte, age 91, a former longtime resident of Dracut, passed away on Tuesday, March 29, 2022, surrounded by his loving family. He was the husband of the late Lorraine G. (Frechette) Matte.
Born in Lowell on January 18, 1931, he was a son of the late George and Yvonne (Bellemare) Matte. He was educated in the Lowell School System and was a Korean War Veteran having served in the U.S. Army from 1952 until his honorable discharge in 1954.
Maurice enjoyed fishing and boating and always loved spending time with his family. He was a member of the Tyngsboro Sportsmen’s Club, Lowell Motorboat Club, Centralville Social Club, American Legion and Disabled American Veterans.
Prior to his retirement, he was employed a s a machinist for the Otis Elevator Company.
He is survived by two sons and two daughters-in-law, Raymond M. and Brenda-Lee Matte of Dracut and Marcel G. and Donna Matte of Belmont, NH; two daughters and a son-in-law, Rachel R. and Robert MacDonald of Dracut and Elaine Graham of Deerfield, NH; eight grandchildren, Allison Wiggin, Robb MacDonald, Lindsey Delano, Chelsea Vigeant, Joshua Matte, Trevor Graham, Joseph Matte and Stephanie MacDonald; nine great grandchildren; two brothers and two sisters-in-law, Roland and Susan Matte of FL and Rene and Nadine Matte of FL; three sisters and a brother-in-law, Helen Rondeau of Dracut, Mildred Racette of Dracut and Doris and Paul Robert of Hudson, NH; and many nieces and nephews. He was also the brother of the late Donald, Gerald, Paul, Dennis, Joseph, Roger and Georgette Matte.
Relatives and friends will be received at the TYNGSBOROUGH FUNERAL HOME 4 Cassaway Dr., Tyngsborough on Thursday, April 7, from 1 to 3 p.m. A Funeral Home service will take place immediately following at 3 p.m. Those wishing may make a memorial donation in his name to a Disabled Veterans Association of your choice.
