Lorain “Sam” MacDonald
MERRIMACK, NH – Lorain “Sam” (Iodice) MacDonald, age 59, passed away on Saturday, December 19, 2020 at her home, with her husband by her side, after a 10 year battle with cancer. She was the beloved wife of David R. MacDonald.
Born in Lynn on August 11, 1961, she was a daughter of the late John A. and Margaret (Powers) Iodice.
She was educated in the Billerica school system and was a graduate of Billerica Memorial High School class of 1979.
Sam was an avid lifelong fitness enthusiast and was a talented artist, designer and seamstress. She was an animal rights defender and activist and spent many years of her life helping rescuing animals. Sam loved and treasured her family and will always be remembered for her to kindness to others. Sam also adored her two cats, Buddy and Sammy.
Surviving her in addition to her husband Dave are her sisters and a brother-in-law, Mary Cockrell of Lynn, MA, Jeanne Arricale and her husband Michael of Billerica, MA and Helen Iodice of Manchester, NH; a sister-in-law, Susan MacDonald of Dracut; a brother-in-law, Clifford MacDonald of Dracut; her nephews and niece, TJ Hajjar of Salem, NH, George Hajjar of Salem, NH, Michael Arricale of Billerica, MA and Steven Murnane of Manchester, NH, Chelsea MacDonald of Dracut, Bruce Coutu of Dracut and the late Brian Coutu of Dracut; and three great-nieces, Angelina, Aaliyah and Lilah Hajjar all of Salem, NH.
Relatives and friends will be received on Sunday, Jan. 10th, from 1 to 3 p.m. at the TYNGSBOROUGH FUNERAL HOME, 4 Cassaway Drive, Tyngsborough. A prayer service will take place immediately following at 3 p.m. in the Funeral Home. To ensure everyone’s safety, those attending will be required to wear a mask and practice social distancing. The family also asks those attending to please feel free to dress in casual comfortable clothes. Burial will be private in St. Mary Cemetery, Tewksbury.
