Karyn A. Kane Freitas

Karyn Kane Freitas, age 67, a longtime resident of Lowell, passed away suddenly on Monday, May 18, 2026 at the Lowell General Hospital, with her family by her side.  She was the loving wife of the late Richard “Rick” Freitas, who passed in 2024.  

Born in Lowell on January 13, 1959, she was a daughter of Shirley A. (Murphy) Kane and the late Raymond W. Kane.  Karyn was educated in the Lowell School system and was a graduate of Lowell High School.

She was currently employed as a property manager for Maloney Properties where she worked for twenty years.

Karyn loved her life, her dogs and her home, decorating it for all seasons.

She possessed a flair for fashion and style, loved to dance, take vacations in Maine and enjoyed travelling with her cousins.  She especially treasured the rides along the New Hampshire seacoast with her mom. At her core she was a good wife, a good daughter, a good sister, a good aunt, a good friend and would be pleased to be remembered as such. There were so many moments with Karyn that were special, hilarious and so unique to her. These are the gifts we will always remember.

Surviving her in addition to her mother Shirley are her three brothers and two sisters, Kenneth Sullivan, Daniel Kane and his wife Theresa, Colleen Kane, Cheryl Kane and Michael Kane; and many cousins, nieces, nephews and dear friends.  She was predeceased by her nephew Nicholas Kane.

Relatives and friends are invited to come celebrate Karyn’s life on Wednesday, May 27, from 4 p.m. to 7 p.m. at the TYNGSBOROUGH FUNERAL HOME, 4 Cassaway Dr., Tyngsborough.  A Prayer Service will take place immediately following at 7 p.m.  Those wishing may make a donation in her memory to St. Ambrose Family Shelter, 25 Leonard St., Boston, MA 02122.
