Joseph J. Sawicki
Joseph J. Sawicki, also known as “Big Joe”, “Santa Joe” or “Jarjew” to his family, friends and grandchildren, passed away on July 14, 2021, after a lengthy illness.
He was born in Lowell on April 13, 1943, to polish immigrants, Isadore and Victoria (Kwiatkowski) Sawicki. He grew up in the Centralville section of Lowell, moved to Billerica and Spofford, NH, before moving back to Lowell in later years.
Joe leaves behind the “love of his life”, his wife and childhood friend, Frances P. (Zygadlo) Ward; his faithful brother, Robert S. Sawicki; and his doting son, John R. Sawicki; also a son, Joseph J. Sawicki Jr. and his wife Christine of Marlboro, and a son, Jason Sawicki of FL; along with six very much loved grandchildren.
He also leaves behind a sister-in-law, Mary P. Santos and a brother-in-law, Roland E. Santos; a number of nephews and nieces; a loving aunt, Josephine Wrobel of Lowell; and dear cousins, Michael Alksninis ans his wife Barbara of Mansfield, Jo-Ann Menzia of Lowell, Phyllis and Bob Hunt of Lowell and Bert Vermette of Pelham, NH.
He was the brother of the late D. Irene Sawicki of Lowell, whom he adored, and Henry E. Sawicki of Sparks, NV.
He worked at Sanders Associates in Nashua, Honeywell and finally the storehouse at the Tewksbury State Hospital, before retiring.
He loved the Red Sox and anything baseball, yard sales, flea markets, cribbage, fishing, and the joyful gatherings with family and friends.
It being his wishes, there will be no services held. Cremation arrangements under the care of Tyngsborough Funeral Home. Donations may be given to the charity of your choice or an act of kindness in Joe’s memory. A celebration of Joe’s life will be held at a later date.
