Joseph A. Jean, Jr, loving husband of Joanne (Fiedler) Jean, passed away peacefully at home overlooking Lake Mascuppic in Tyngsboro, MA on August 11, 2025 at the age of 88, just two days prior to their 65th Wedding Anniversary. He was born in Dracut, MA, a son of the late Joseph A. Jean, Sr, and the late Rose De Lima (Levesque) Jean.
Surviving Joe in addition to his wife are his daughter, Alison (Jean) Thompson and her husband James, his grandchildren, Jordan, Sophia, Taylor, Desiree and her husband Steve, Daniel, Thomas “TJ” and his fiancé Cheri, Jeremy, Joey, Zach, Stone, Alex, and Charlotte; his great grandchildren, Nathalie, Zachary, Dylan, Jillian, Makayla, Ava, and Michael; his daughters-in-law, Joelle, Kimberlee and Gretchen, his sisters, Victory Beaulieau and Rose Poirier and her husband Dr J. Leon Poirier, and his best friend since childhood, J.P. Rivard. He is also survived by many nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends. Joe was predeceased by his sons, Robert, Joseph, and Thomas and several siblings.
Everyone who was in Joe’s life knows the tremendous love he had for his family and closest friends. Providing for his loved ones was most important to him. Joe was a proud 50 year member of the International Union of Operating Engineers Local 4, Boston and was an active member of the Dracut Road Runners Car Club. His love for everything cars began as a youngster when he worked for his father’s business, Jean’s Auto Service in Dracut before becoming a Gradall Excavator Heavy Equipment Operator.
Joe’s 1937 Chevy Business Coupe was his favorite of the antique autos he ever owned and he could be seen driving around town and attending countless antique and classic auto shows. He also enjoyed cruising with his wife by his side in their award winning 1964 Ford Thunderbird convertible. Joe’s ability to correctly identify the year, make, and model of just about any car or truck just by seeing a tail light, fender or grille was amazing!
He also had many other hobbies throughout his long life, including fishing, water skiing, boating, and spent many weekends snowmobiling at their property in Vermont. Most recently, Joe took up painting works of art, some of which he has gifted to others.
