John J. Silva

John J. Silva, age 82, a resident of Lowell, passed away on Friday, January 23, 2020, with his family by his side. 

Born in Cambridge on February 23, 1938, he was a son of the late Manuel and Issabel (Pacheco) Silva.  He was educated in the Billerica school system and was a graduate of Billerica High School.

John was a veteran of the United States Navy, having served from 1956 until his honorable discharge in 1962.

Prior to his retirement, he was employed as an assembler for Raytheon for over 30 years.

John enjoyed fishing, watching baseball and playing softball which he did until the age of 70. He also loved his cats and supporting animal shelters.

He is survived by three sons and a daughter in law, John W. and Theresa Silva of Tyngsborough, James E. Silva of Chelmsford and Wayne Silva of Exeter, NH; a daughter and a son in law, Deborah Haberman and her husband Scott of Lowell; eight grandchildren, Steve Silva, Brian Silva, Scott Haberman, Kevin Haberman, Amanda Haberman, Bethany Silva, Kelsey Silva and Adam Silva; and his former spouse, Eleanor Silva of Nashua, NH. 

He was also the brother of the late George Silva and Dorothy Colarusso.
