John A. Janeczko, age 81, formerly of Lowell, died on July 24, 2024. He was born on June 7, 1943 in Lowell, to John and Sophie (Strzelec) Janesko. John graduated from St. Stanislaus School and Lowell High School. After high school, John graduated from St. Joseph Seminary in Callicoon, NY and was a graduate of Lowell State College. While at Lowell State, John was the captain of the wrestling team.
John’s professional career included multiple positions in the banking profession throughout the Greater Lowell Community, ultimately retiring from Enterprise Bank.
John was a devoted volunteer at the Holy Trinity Parish Church in Lowell. He spent countless hours assisting with Bingo, church suppers, and as a reader at church services. John was extremely proud of his Polish heritage and especially enjoyed the culinary delights of his culture.
In his spare time, John enjoyed reading, completing the New York Times cross word puzzles, gardening, and relishing lunches at Michael’s Harborside.
He is survived by his dear sister Jane, and her son, John Peter Wasko of Cleveland, OH, several cousins, among them Deborah and Michael Kendrick, and his devoted friends, Meredith Boumil-Flynn and her husband Bob. Along with his parents, John is predeceased by his brother-in-law, Richard Wasko.
Relatives and Friends will be received on Wednesday, July 31, from 9:45 a.m. to 10:45 a.m. at the Holy Trinity Polish Church, 340 High St., Lowell. His Funeral Mass will be celebrated immediately following at 11 a.m. Burial will take place in Holy Trinity Cemetery, Lowell. In lieu of flowers, Donations may be sent in John’s memory to: Holy Trinity Church, 340 High St. Lowell, MA 01852 or the Lowell Humane Society, 951 Broadway St. Lowel
