Joan V. (Messer) Morris

Joan (Messer) Morris Obituary

Joan V. (Messer) Morris, a longtime resident of Tyngsborough, passed away on Friday November 10, 2023.  She was the beloved wife of the late William T. Morris.  Born in Lowell on March 21, 1943, she was a daughter of the late Raymond and Ruth (Noyes) Messer.

Joan traveled the world.  Her and Billy made annual trips to Saratoga where they enjoy playing the ponies with friends as well as visiting exotic destinations, countries full of history and cruises to just about anywhere.  It was a passion she continued after losing the love of her life in 2015.  She was a history buff and enjoyed exploring her ancestry with her sister Terri.  Joan was a true fashionista.  She loved to shop and appreciated a really good designer bag, a gene she often joked about passing on to family members.  For those of you who inherited the “pocketbook gene”, dust them off in her honor when you come to celebrate her life.  She loved lake life and the friends she spent a life time making and above all, she loved her family including the furry ones, Sophie, Janey, Tizzylish and Tiger.

She is survived by two daughters and a son-in-law, Bonnie & Scott I’Anson and Laurie Bourassa, who took great care of her mother, and her late husband Robert; three grandchildren, the late Linsey Putzlocker, Chelsea I’Anson, Ryan Bourassa and his spouse Yadeni Hernandez and four great-grandchildren, Zoey Putzlocker Allen, Colby Catenacci, Matthew Catenacci, and the future baby boy Bourassa due in January 2024; a sister and brother-in-law, Terri and Paul Jalbert; her mother-in-law, Madelon Morris; a brother-in-law and sister-in-law, Paul and Patti Morris; and several nieces and nephews.  She was predeceased by her sisters Sharon Connor, Mary Finnegan and Robin Cleary.

She was a loving mother, grandmother, great grandmother, sister and friend.  It brings the family comfort to know that many are also mourning her loss and that she has been reunited with Billy and Linsey who she missed every single day.

Relatives and friends are invited to gather, share stories and celebrate Joan’s life on Sunday, Nov. 19, from 1 to 4 PM at the TYNGSBOROUGH FUNERAL HOME, 4 Cassaway Drive., Tyngsborough. In lieu of flowers (she wasn’t a fan of cut flowers) the family suggests donations to “The Linsey Putzlocker Memorial Fund” at JDCU, 1595 Bridge Street, Dracut, MA 01826.
