Jeannette F. (Lapointe) (Durand) Majder, age 95, a resident of Pelham, NH and formerly of Dracut, passed away on Monday, February 2, 2026, with her family by her side.
Born in Lowell, on July 30, 1930, she was a daughter of the late Alexander and Blanche (Boisvert) Lapointe and was the widow of the late Henri Durand and the late Jan Majder.
Prior to her retirement, she worked in the food service department at the Edith Nourse Rogers Memorial Veterans Hospital in Bedford as well as a nurse’s aide at Tewksbury Hospital.
Jeannette enjoyed the simple everyday things in life. In her early years, she loved spending hot summer days at Hampton Beach with her husband and children. They would go on Monday and Tuesday of every week, and for the rest of the week they would go to Long Pond Grove for an early evening swim. In winter, the whole family would go to Shedd Park in Lowell to enjoy tobogganing down the snow-covered hills.
Jeannette loved her family and loved being helpful to others. In her later years, between 80 and 90, she lived in an apartment building and made many friends. When it snowed overnight, she would get up very early and clean off about a dozen cars for those who would have to go to work.
She enjoyed going for walks and went to the gym twice a day for several years till she was 91. Most of all, she had an incredible love and respect for her mother and siblings. For years she brought her mother grocery shopping and got the errands done. She either visited her every day after dinner or gave her a quick call when she got out of work.
One of her favorite past-times was getting together with her sister Beatrice and taking a trip to Mt. Washington to visit their sister MaryAnn. They spent their time shopping, taking in the beautiful view on the veranda of the Mt. Washington Hotel, playing Yahtzee in the evenings and laughing till they cried. It was the best of times!! She was deeply loved by her children and will be dearly missed.
Jeannette is survived by her daughter and son-in-law, Jeannine and Ralph Hopkins; three sons and three daughters-in-law, Joe and Jan Durand, Leo and Cathleen Durand and Donald and Peggy Durand; fifteen grandchildren; many great grandchildren; a sister and brother-in-law, MaryAnn and Leo Grondine; two brothers and a sister-in-law, Alexander and Lorraine Lapointe and Maurice Lapointe.
According to her wishes, Funeral services and burial will be private.
