Jacob Martin Obituary

Jacob P. Martin, age 32, a former resident of Dracut and most recently of Nashua, NH, passed away after a brief illness, on Thursday, September 18, 2025 at Lahey Hospital and Medical Center, with his loving family by his side.

Born in Lowell on February 4, 1993, he was a son of Paul and Sheila (Hughes) Martin of Dracut.  Jacob was educated in the Dracut School system and was a graduate of Greater Lowell Technical High School Class of 2011.  He had a brief adventure at UMass Lowell where he joined the Phi Kappa Sigma fraternity. He was currently attending Middlesex Community College for Fire Science Technology.

Jacob was currently employed as a firefighter for the Town of Dracut and was a member of the IAFF Local 2586.  He also worked with his brother at Martin Bros. Plumbing and Heating.

Jake was a free-spirit who lived life on his terms. He had the biggest personality, with a smile to match, which lit up any room he entered. He was a true social butterfly who could spark a conversation with a stranger like they were an old friend.

His one true passion was music. Jake regularly attended concerts and festivals and enjoyed a wide variety of music.  He easily saw over 200 different artists with his brother alone.  He also enjoyed treating his family to concerts with classic rock icons.  A gifted musician and self-taught student of music theory, he loved playing his guitar around a camp fire or on the beach overlooking the ocean. And oh boy, did he love to dance.

Jake loved nature, and could be found zipping down a mountain on his snowboard, hiking the mountains of New England and other various destinations he visited, and camping with friends and family.

Becoming a firefighter was a dream come true. When asked how he liked his job, he proudly responded, with a big smile on his face, “Best job evah!”

In his short life, he was able to do some traveling outside the country, visiting Ireland and Iceland.

His love for life extended into so many areas: philosophy, yoga instructor, chess, football, hockey, skateboarding, and playing cards and Catan.

Jake’s bubbling personality touched so many. He will be so missed.
