Henry A. Norris, Jr.

Henry A Norris Jr. of 70 Sherburne Avenue Tyngsboro Mass passed away peacefully at his home with family on July 11, 2022.

The son of Henry and Laura Grace Norris, he was born in Philadelphia on August 19, 1934.  

Henry graduated with a music degree from Temple University, Philadelphia, PA, in 1956 and soon after was a music teacher at Vare Jr High School and then George Washington High School in Philadelphia.  Additionally, he was the organist and choir director at the Roslyn Presbyterian church. At Roslyn, he met and married his wife of 59 years, Carol Ann Lebengood, on March 16, 1963.

Henry and Carol moved to Tyngsboro, MA, with their three children in 1973 to live with Henry's aunt Bessie Norris in a longtime family home. Henry continued in music, working as a music teacher at the Merrimack Middle school in Merrimack, NH, from 1973 until his retirement in 1993. Henry founded and also directed the Tyngsboro Dunstable Choral Society beginning in 1975, which sang with members from both towns for many years. Henry with his wife Carol served in music at the Dunstable Evangelical Congregational Church for over 40 years, playing the organ and piano and directing and singing in choirs of all types. They love their church family.

Henry is predeceased by two older brothers, Charles Norris and Milton Norris. Henry is survived by a loving family including his wife Carol, three children, Peter (Vicki) Norris, Andy (Brooke) Norris and Julie (Bill) McGonagle, nine grandchildren, Matt (Samantha) Norris, Jon (Christin Love) Norris, Lauren (Jesse) Smith, Jessica Norris, Natalie Norris, Tom Norris, Sarah McGonagle, Connor McGonagle, Nicole McGonagle, and three (one expected) great-grandchildren, Mason Norris, Olivia Norris, and Jace Smith due September 20, 2022.

There will be no public visitation. A private burial service will be held at the Sherburne Cemetery in Tyngsboro, MA. A public memorial service will be held at the Dunstable Evangelical Congregational Church on Monday July 18, 2022 at 2:00pm.
