Gilberto E. Urizandi
Gilberto E. Urizandi, age 83, the patriarch of a large family, and a resident of Westford, passed away on June 27, 2021 at the Lowell General Hospital, with his loving family by his side. He was the beloved husband of Zonia E. (Colindres) Urizandi.
Born in Guatemala City on October 15, 1937, he was a son of the late Luis and Romelia (Castillo) Urizandi.
Gilberto was a hardworking man who always held more than one job at a time. While in Guatemala he worked as a truck driver for the gas company and then after moving to the United States he worked for Virtipile in Leominster, the Colonial Inn located in Concord, Emerson Hospital and he even owned his own cleaning company called Gilco.
He was an avid sports fan who enjoyed soccer, bowling, fishing, the Boston Red Sox and the New England Patriots. Gilberto was very proud of his heritage and always enjoyed Guatemalan food and seafood.
Gilberto was the patriarch and well respected by his loving family. He was always ready to assist in any way he could and share advice for anyone who asked.
He will be deeply missed by his wife Zonia; his children, Sandra Urizandi, Douglas Urizandi, Miriam Urizandi, Corina Urizandi, Gilberto Jr., Claudia Urizandi, Nancy Martinez, Maggy Godfroy, Mario Ayapan and Maria Nauman; many grandchildren and great grandchildren; and several brothers, sisters, nieces and nephews. He was also the husband of Maria Mirian Castellanos and the late Josefa (Cameros) Urizandi.
Relatives and friends will be received on Wednesday, June 30, from 4 to 8 p.m. at the TYNGSBOROUGH FUNERAL HOME 4 Cassaway Dr., Tyngsborough. Funeral Thursday morning with a Funeral Mass to be celebrated at 10 a.m. at Blessed Trinity Parish - St. Catherine of Alexandria Church, 107 N. Main St.,Westford.
