Gertrude L. (Dussault) Jardine, age 87, a lifelong resident of Lowell, passed away on October 7, 2023, surrounded by her loving family. She was the wife of the late William F. “Bill” Jardine who died in 2003.
Born in Lowell on November 19, 1935, she was a daughter of the late Barnaby and Elizabeth (Weinand) Dussault. She received her early education at St Joseph’s School and was a graduate of Lowell Trade School.
Gertrude enjoyed playing bingo, taking trips to the casinos and always loved family gatherings. She was an extremely generous person and was always there to help anyone in need.
She was a life member of the VFW Post 662 and was active with the Ladies Auxiliary.
Surviving her are five daughters and three sons-in-law, Susan T. and Joseph Nunes, Elizabeth M. Jardine and her longtime companion Scott Roberge, Shirley I. Archambault, Carrie A. and Joseph Proulx and Jenny C. and John Hanson; three sons and two daughters-in-law, Norman P. and Suzanne Gauthier, George S. Jardine and William F. and Cassandra Jardine Jr; seventeen grandchildren; nineteen great grandchildren; five great great grandchildren; one brother, Christopher Dussault; three sisters-in-law, Donna Dussault, Connie Dussault and Doris Lovejoy; also several nieces, nephews and many dear friends.
She was the mother of the late Robert P. Gauthier and Albert H. Jardine; mother-in-law of the late Ronald Archambault; and sister of the late Elizabeth Danis, Rose Thompson, Theresa Strykowski, Dorothy Cameron, Virginia Euler and Louise Morin, Barnaby, George, Robert, Emile, Joseph and Paul Dussault.
Relatives and friends are invited to attend her committal service on Monday, Oct. 16, at 12 noon in the Chapel at St. Joseph’s Cemetery, Chelmsford MA. In lieu of flowers, those wishing may make a donation in her name to Tufts Medicine Care at Home.
