Gerard A. Letendre

LOWELL – Gerard A. Letendre, age 89, a longtime resident of the Pawtucketville section of Lowell, passed away at his home on Thursday, April 15, 2021, with his family by his side.  He was the husband of the late Irene G. (Savard) Letendre, who died on February 24, 2009.

Born in Lowell on January 5, 1932, he was a son of the late Pierre and Hedwidge (Lanseigne) Letendre. 

He was an active parishioner of the Parish of Saint Rita and past communicant of the former Ste Jeanne d’Arc Church.

Gerard was a Korean War veteran, having served in the U.S. Air Force from 1952 until his honorable discharge in 1957. 

Prior to his retirement, Gerard had worked in the electronics department for the former Symphonics Co. and then for Raytheon.

His greatest joy in life came from spending time with his family, grandchildren and especially his great grandchildren. 

Gerard also enjoyed talking about his military years and how he enjoyed dancing.

He is survived by two daughters and a son-in-law, Jacqueline and William Cordeiro, Jr. of Pelham and the late Bernadette Glotzbach of Nashua who passed on May 2, 2021; five sons and two daughters-in-law, Normand and his wife Deborah Letendre of Hudson, Maurice Letendre of Manchester, Donald and his wife Riza Letendre of Nashua, Ronald Letendre of Washington, and John Letendre and his fiancé Stephanie of Lowell; eight grandchildren; thirteen great grandchildren; a brother and sister-in-law, Armand and his wife Jeannette Letendre of Nashua; and many nieces and nephews. 

He was also the father-in-law of the late Bruce Glotzbach and brother of the late Exilia Bastien, Wilfred Letendre, Irene Carbonneau and Yvonne McKinnon. 

Relatives and friends are invited to attend his Funeral Mass on Friday, May 14, at 11 o'clock at the Parish of Saint Rita, 158 Mammoth Rd., Lowell. His Committal Service with Military Honors will follow in St. Joseph Cemetery, Chelmsford.
