Gerald R. Gavin, age 81, a longtime resident of Dracut, passed away on Thursday, July 11, 2024. He was the husband of Peggy K. (Prentice) Gavin, with whom he shared 28 years of marriage.
He was born in Cambridge, MA on September 20, 1942 a son of the late James A Gavin and Emma E Rand. He was educated in the Burlington public school system and was a graduate of Burlington High School.
Prior to his retirement, Gerald was employed for many years as a stockroom foreman for SC Johnson and later for AAFES at Hanscom, AFB.
Gerald enjoyed scratch tickets, vacationing, watching television, cowboy shows, music and dancing, but his true passion was spending time with his children and grandchildren, and let’s not forget about his love for anything in a plaid design.
Surviving him in addition to his loving wife Peggy are four children, Scott Gavin and his wife Janet, Steven Gavin and his wife Wendy, Lori Gavel and her husband Dan and Greg Gavin and his wife Erin; Peggy’s children, William L. Williams Jr. and his wife Daniela, Christopher G. Williams and his wife Marla and Rene Williams; his grandchildren Nicole, Artie, Brett, Jennifer, Allison, Dylan; a brother, George Gavin; and nieces and nephews.
He was predeceased by his brother James Gavin.
In accordance with his wishes, services will be held privately. Those wishing may make a donation in his memory to the Dana-Farber and The Jimmy Fund at https://www.jimmyfund.org/
