Fern M (Wallace) Childs, age 86, a member of a well-known Lowell family died on September 17, 2025 at the High Pointe Hospice House, Haverhill, MA.
She was the daughter of the late Lawrence and Fern (Hayes) Wallace and the only girl in the family of twelve children. She was born on Memorial Day in 1939.
She was married to the late Raymond Childs and was the mother of five children.
Growing up in Lowell she was active in the choir and Sunday school at the Calvary Baptist Church and was a student at the former Lowell Trade High School.
Just two weeks ago she was honored at a family reunion with 84 nieces, nephews and cousins in attendance.
Survived by her loving family daughters, Linda and her husband Cyril Lane of Methuen, MA, Karen and her husband Thomas Dumont of Dunstable, MA; sons, Raymond Jr. and his wife Kimberly Childs of Pelham, NH, James and his wife Pam Childs of Dunstable, MA; grandchildren, Anthony and his wife Danielle Shaheen of Methuen, MA, Raymond III and his spouse Junior Childs of Florida, Ryan and his spouse Dan Childs of NH, Jennifer Childs and her partner Austin Workman of NH, Derek and his wife Shawna Dumont of Pepperell, MA, Jessica and her husband Josh Ensko of Florida, Olivia, Natalie and Jonathan Childs of Dunstable, MA; great grandchildren, Jameson Ensko of Florida and Haylee Dumont of Pepperell, MA.
She was predeceased by her daughter, Donna Childs, granddaughter Shannon Childs and daughter-in-law Sheila Childs.
She was also predeceased by her siblings William, Lawrence, Gerald, Donald, Raymond, Robert, Claude, John, Francis and David.
She is survived by her only surviving brother Kendall M. Wallace and his wife Esther and sisters-in-law Frances Wallace and Gail Wallace.
Relatives and friends will be received on Tuesday, September 23, 2025 from 4 to 7 pm at the TYNGSBOROUGH FUNERAL HOME, 4 Cassaway Drive, Tyngsborough. Her Funeral Service will take place on Wednesday morning at 10 am at Calvary Baptist Church, 60 Hastings Street, Lowell. Those wishing to attend the Funeral Service are asked to meet directly at church. Burial will follow in Westlawn Cemetery.
