Eugene J. Berube, age 97, a former resident of Lowell and most recently of Tewksbury, passed away on Sunday, June 1, 2025 in Lowell.
He was born in Lowell on May 3, 1928 and was a son of the late Arthur and Eva (Sassaville) Berube.
Eugene entered into the U.S. Army in 1951 and served during the Korean War until his honorable discharge in 1954. He was a recipient of a Purple Heart and proud to be a veteran.
He worked at Linwood Animal Hospital in Lowell for many years as a nighttime veterinarian assistant as well as lived above the animal hospital.
Eugene enjoyed the local casinos and traveling to Las Vegas. He also enjoyed his daily gatherings at Top Donut in Lowell.
He is survived by a sister Jeannette Shaw of Omaha, NE; a dear friend Ronald “Tiny’ Tynan many nieces and nephews and dear friends from Top Donut.
He was predeceased by his brothers and sisters, Arthur Berube, Doris Butler, Lorraine Hallner, Beatrice Russell, Paul Berube, Rita Hoffman, Pauline Mellon, Irene Courchaine and Richard Berube.
In accordance with his wishes, there will be no visitations. Relatives and friends are invited to attend his committal service on Thursday, June 5, 2025 at 11:30 a.m. in the Chapel at St. Joseph’s Cemetery, Chelmsford.
