Ernest D. Newton, Jr.
Ernest D. Newton, Jr., age 81, a resident of Tyngsborough, passed away on Wednesday, July 6, 2022 at the Northwood Rehabilitation and Nursing Center. He was the loving husband of Edna (Ramsdell) Newton, with whom he would have celebrated their 61st wedding anniversary on July 15th.
Born in Cambridge, MA on September 24, 1940, he was a son of the late Ernest D. Newton, Sr. and Frances (Floyd) Newton.
He received his early education from the Burlington school system and was a graduate of Burlington High School. He then attended Benjamin Franklin Institute of Technology, where he earned an Associate’s degree.
Ernest was self-employed for many years, having owned and operated the Steel Detailing and Drafting Company.
He enjoyed playing poker and blackjack and taking trips to Las Vegas. He also enjoyed bird watching and photography.
Surviving him in addition to his wife are four children, Mark Newton and his wife Susan of CA, Wendy Newton of Tyngsborough, Gary Newton and his wife Tina of Hudson, NH and David Newton of Tyngsborough; eleven grandchildren, Matthew, Jesse, Sarah, Alex, Amanda, Cory, Casey, Joshua, Jessica, Jonathan and Kayleigh; six great grandchildren, Robert, Anthony, Shawn, Xander, Christopher and Alex; a brother and sister-in-law, Charles and Nancy Newton of Hudson; two sisters and a brother-in-law, Judith and Robert Luongo of North Attleboro and Linda Heighman of FL; a brother-in-law, Donald Blanchet of Chelmsford; and many nieces and nephews.
He was also the brother of the late Virginia Blanchet and the brother-in-law of the late Richard Heigham.
