Erick H. Olsen, age 83, a resident of Tyngsborough, passed away on Tuesday, April 8, 2025. He was the beloved husband of Sylva M. (Montagnani) Olsen, with whom he recently celebrated 61 years of marriage.
Born in Brooklyn, New York on May 20, 1941 he was the son of the late Alfred and Edith (Perez) Olsen. He was a graduate of Fort Hamilton High School and then joined the U.S. Army where he served from 1959 until his honorable discharge in 1962. It was in the Army that he began his career in electronics and communications.
After the Army, Erick worked for ITT, traveling throughout much of Europe installing communications systems. It was in his travels through Italy that he met Sylva, where eventually they wed. Continuing their European travels together, in 1971, they moved to the US, settling in Bedford. At that time, Erick began his career with Raytheon, rising to Principal Engineer over his 33 plus years, where he traveled extensively including Alaska, Puerto Rico, Greenland and many stateside locations. It was on these trips that he made many lifelong friends, and survived adventures which were fondly retold. He will always be remembered for his mentorship, many interesting stories and sense of humor.
He enjoyed playing poker and racquetball, traveling with his wife and in his younger years making jewelry and other DIY projects. His true love was spending time with his family and his dogs.
Surviving him in addition to his beloved wife Sylva are Erick Olsen and his wife Diane of Greenwood, ME and Patricia Stewart and her husband Dennis of Tyngsborough; two granddaughters, Jillian and Rachel Stewart; a sister, Carole Erikson, and many nieces and nephews.
