Emile Lessard Obituary

Emile B Lessard, 97, a longtime resident of Tyngsborough, MA, passed away on July 2, 2025, after complications from Lung cancer.  His beloved wife Pauline (Lemire) Lessard, his son Dennis and daughter Cynthia were by his side.

Emile (affectionately known as Sonny by his family and friends), was the youngest of three children born to Emile J and Delvina (Renaud) Lessard and was raised in Lowell, MA. He was an active member of St. Mary Magdalen Parish in Tyngsborough where he was a Eucharistic Minister for many years.  He also participated in so many Church fetes that the kitchen was christened “Emile’s Kitchen”.

Emile left Lowell Trade School to enlist in the Army spending his time in Alaska.  Upon return he went to work with his father-in-law for Price’s Bakery in Lowell making breads, desserts and wedding cakes that he decorated.  Emile went back to school and graduated from Fitchburg State College in 1982 with a BS in Education.  He worked one year at Montachusett Regional Vocational Technical School transferring the next year to the newly built Greater Lowell Technical High School as a teacher of Culinary Arts, retiring in 1988.

Emile loved spending time with family and friends.  He taught all the younger generation how to play cribbage, swim in the summer and skate in the winter.  He was an avid reader, devouring several books a week.  He was so well known at the Tyngsborough library they would put aside books that they thought he might enjoy.  He was famous for his apple pies, buttercups and fig squares, and made them for every occasion.

Emile is survived by his wife Pauline, having celebrated 75 years this past May, his son Dennis and his wife Victoria, his daughter Cynthia and her late husband Ed.  His grandson, Joe and his partner Anna DeVries, his granddaughters, Adrienne and her husband Ryan Williams and Kathryn DiTommaso and her partner Michael Heaton.  One great grandchild, Everett Williams.  As well as many loving nieces and nephews, coworkers and an abundance of friends.

In keeping with his wishes, relatives and friends will be received at the TYNGSBOROUGH FUNERAL HOME, 4 Cassaway Dr., Tyngsborough on Tuesday morning, July 8, from 9:30 a.m.  to 10:30 a.m. His Funeral Mass will be celebrated immediately following at 11 o'clock at St. Mary Magdalen Parish, 95 Lakeview Ave., Tyngsborough. Committal services with Military Honors will take place at St. Joseph Cemetery, Chelmsford. Due to allergies, the family kindly asks that floral arrangements not contain lilies.
