Elizabeth L. Whitney

Elizabeth L. “Betty” Whitney, age 76, a longtime resident of Lowell, passed away on Wednesday, January 4, 2023. 

Born in Boston on December 31, 1946, she was the daughter of the late Frederick and Theresa (Tarquini) Whitney.

Betty and her children lived in Bourne, MA from 1985 -2000. Then after facing some medical challenges her brother Frederick moved her into his home so he could help care for her.

Betty was very talented. She enjoyed painting and making arts and crafts. She loved shopping and always trying to find a bargain. She looked forward to Sunday morning coffee with her brother. And she loved being surrounded by her children and grandson. She will be deeply missed by all who knew her.

She is survived by her children, Gregory P. Whitney of Lowell, Samantha L. Whitney of Lowell and Michelle E. Whitney of Jamaica Plain; a loving grandson, Julian P. Otero-Whitney of Lowell; her brother, Frederick J. Whitney of Lowell; her lifelong friends Linda Ruggiero and Amy Bamforth; and so many friends near and dear. She was preceded in death by her best friend Carole Ruggiero.

The family would also like to say a huge thank you to the staff at Bridgewell Hildreth St. Thank you for caring for her and adding to her amazing quality of life. You were all her “buddies.”

Relatives and friends will be received at the TYNGSBOROUGH FUNERAL HOME 4 Cassaway Dr., Tyngsborough, on Thursday, Jan. 12, from 3 to 6 p.m.
