Eberhard Walter Riessland
Eberhard Walter Riessland, age 80, a resident of Tyngsborough, passed away suddenly on Monday, December 20, 2021, at his home. He was the beloved husband of Denise M. (Sloan) Riessland with whom he had been married to for 33 years.
Born in Troeglitz, Germany on November 24, 1941, he was a son of the late Herbert and Gertrude (Bretschneider) Riessland.
Walter enjoyed gardening, cooking, family cookouts, hosting family and friends, bird watching and nature; he also loved continuing family traditions during the Holidays.
Prior to his retirement, he was employed as a mechanical engineer for the Middle East Bakery. Walter was also a longtime member of the Tyngsboro Sportsmen’s Club.
Surviving him in addition to his wife Denise, he is survived by five children, Pamela Henderson and her husband Stan, Heidi Barnes and her husband Dennis, Karen Murray and her husband Kevin, Jimmy Ricoy and his wife Sue and Jocelyn Mendonsa; eight grandchildren, Jimmy, Justin, Jessica, Erika, Alex, Samuel, Adam and James; two great grandchildren, Logan and Reese; his dog Herbert; his siblings in Germany, Christian, Hans and Brigitta, and a godchild, Martina.
Relatives and Friends will be received at the TYNGSBOROUGH FUNERAL HOME 4 Cassaway Dr., Tyngsborough on Thursday, Dec. 30, from 2 to 6 p.m. A Funeral Home service will take place immediately following at 6 p.m. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests a donation in his memory to the Massachusetts General Hospital, c/o Mass General Development Office, 125 Nashua St., Suite 540, Boston, MA 02114 or by making a blood donation to a local blood donation center.
