Doris R. Garside, 91, of Deerfield NH (Formerly of Lowell Ma and Londonderry NH) passed away peacefully on March 19, 2022, after a long battle with progressive dementia.
In 1966, Doris and her husband John purchased Elliot’s Famous Hot Dogs of Lowell, Ma. and continued to operate it until their retirement.
Doris and John spent many summers camping in the White Mountains of New Hampshire, vacationing in Aruba and Florida, and traveling the country in their Winnebago. Upon their retirement they settled on Lake Winnisquam in New Hampshire, where she spent her time enjoying her family and especially her many grandchildren. Later in life she enjoyed the peace and quiet of Pittsburgh NH, spending many weekends there. She enjoyed baking her famous apple pies and homemade caramels.
Doris was predeceased by her lifelong love and husband of 68 years, John Garside Sr of Londonderry, NH in 2018.
She is survived by their 6 children, Walter J. Garside Sr. and wife, Joellyn (McNulty) of Salem NH, Kenneth R. Garside and wife, Karen (Hurst) of Punta Gorda FL, Sheryll A. (Garside)Dupont and husband, Richard of Tilton NH, Thomas A. Garside and wife Susan (Misiaszek) of Londonderry NH, John R. Garside Jr of Laconia NH, and Robert E. Garside and wife Edith (Gosselin) of New Boston, NH. Doris will also be missed dearly by her 14 Grandchildren, 13 great Grandchildren, and 1 great- great grandchild.
Doris leaves behind her sisters Patricia Freitas of Nashua, NH and Janet Fleischman of Concordia, MO. She was predeceased by her sisters Gloria Fournier and Pauline Desroches.
Doris gave every ounce of her heart and soul to her husband and her children to provide them a better life and keep a marriage and family together for better or for worse.
We Love You Ma, because as Dad would say … “without you we all would not be here right now.”
