Donald F. Pelletier
Donald F. Pelletier, age 88, a former longtime resident of Lowell, passed away on Thursday, September 2, 2021, after a brief illness, at the Bear Mountain Nursing facility in Andover. He was the husband of the late Ruth A. (Dennis) Pelletier who passed in 2016.
Born in Lowell on October 6, 1932, he was a son of the late Ernest and Josephine (Joyal) Pelletier and a longtime parishioner of the former Notre Dame de Lourdes Church and more recently of St. Margaret of Scotland Church.
He was a Korean War veteran, having served in the United States Army from 1953 until his honorable discharge in 1954.
Donald was employed as a woodworker and finisher for the former Merrivale Casket Company and the Batesville Casket Company, having worked in their Nashua factory for over thirty three years.
He was a member of the former Notre Dame de Lourdes bowling league and staff member of their CYO Panther Band. Donald was involved with the National Horseshoe Pitchers Association and was an avid card player.
Surviving Donald are three sons and two daughters in law, Thomas E. and Karen Pelletier of Dracut, David R. Pelletier of Tewksbury and Kenneth L. and Sheree Pelletier of Bristol, NH; a grandson, Jordan Pelletier; a sister in law, Jacqueline Dennis of Venice, FL; a special friend whom he also considered a daughter, Catherine A. Flowers of Tewksbury; and many nieces and nephews. Donald was pre-deceased by his long time friend and army buddy Bill Petroski of Pennsylvania.
Relatives and friends will be received at the TYNGSBOROUGH FUNERAL HOME, 4 Cassaway Dr., Tyngsborough, on Tuesday from 4 to 8 p.m. Funeral Wednesday morning with a Funeral Mass to be celebrated at 10 a.m. at St. Margaret of Scotland Church, 374 Stevens Street, Lowell, MA. Committal prayers with Military Honors will follow in St. Joseph Cemetery, Chelmsford. Those wishing may make a donation in his memory to the Disabled American Veterans, P.O.
