Donald A. Chandonnet, age 81, a resident of Dracut, passed away on Tuesday, June 16, 2026. He was the beloved husband of the late Rose Marie (Dupuis) Chandonnet and father of the late Donald A. Chandonnet, Jr.
He was born in Lowell, on August 16, 1944, the oldest of six children of the late Gerard F. and Yvette M. (Lemieux) Chandonnet and was a graduate of St. Louis Elementary school.
Prior to his retirement, Donald was employed as a carpenter and was a member of the Carpenters Local Union 339. He was very skilled in his trade, you could place a piece of wood in his hands and he would make magic.
He had a heart of gold and leaves a legacy of kindness. Donald enjoyed playing golf, dancing, playing cards, lottery tickets and spending time with his family, especially with his loving daughter Ida.
He is survived by his daughter, Ida Chandonnet; a brother and a sister-in-law, Gerard and Priscilla Chandonnet; three sisters and three-brothers-in-law, Dorothy and Joseph Caron, Theresa and Dimitri Lee and Irene and Randy Belair; two brothers-in-law and a sister-in-law, Robert Dupuis and Thomas and Mandy Thamer; a sister-in-law, Pam Lauziere; and several nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his brother and sister-in-law, Roger and Lynda Chandonnet, a sister-in-law, Dottie Dupuis and a brother-in-law, Larry Lauziere.
Relatives and Friends will be received at the TYNGSBOROUGH FUNERAL HOME, 4 Cassaway Dr, Tyngsborough, on Tuesday, June 23, from 10 a.m. to 12 noon. A Funeral Home Service will take place immediately following at 12 noon. Burial in St. Joseph Cemetery, Chelmsford.
