Donald A. Bergeron, age 84, a longtime resident of Lowell, passed away on Friday, September 8, 2023 in Lowell. He was the beloved husband of the late Reinette B. (LeBel) Bergeron, with whom he shared thirty-four wonderful years of marriage, before her passing in 1998.
He was born in Lowell on October 21, 1938, the youngest of five boys of the late Onil and Bernadette (Richard) Bergeron. He received his early education from St. Louis School and was a graduate of St. Joseph’s High School.
He enlisted into the U.S. Army and served for six years, earning an honorable discharge and a Good Conduct Medal.
Donald was also a longtime employee of Raytheon, where he worked as a printer for over 46 years.
He enjoyed reading, bowling, puzzles, painting, electronics, camping and playing the organ. His true love was spending time with his family and grandchildren, especially around the holidays.
Donald is survived by a daughter and son-in-law, Cecile B. Coles and her husband Daniel of Manchester, NH; a son and daughter-in-law, Donald G. Bergeron and his wife Christine of Londonderry, NH; seven grandchildren, Trevor Coles, Devin Coles, Logan Bergeron, Kaylee Bergeron, Justyn Bergeron, Jordan Bergeron and Sarah Bergeron; two sisters-in-law, Jeannine Bergeron and Dottie Bergeron; and many nieces and nephews. He was the brother of the late Maurice Bergeron, Ernest Bergeron and his wife Doris, Pete Bergeron and his wife Mary and Norman Bergeron.
Relatives and friends will be received on Friday, September 15, 2023 from 11 a.m. to 12 noon at the TYNGSBOROUGH FUNERAL HOME, 4 Cassaway Dr., Tyngsborough. A Committal Service with Military Honors will follow at 1 p.m. at the graveside in St. Joseph Cemetery, Chelmsford.
