Diane Marie Dufour Beaudoin, known to her family as “Dukey,” passed away peacefully on May 14, 2026, surrounded by her family. She was 78 years old.
Diane was born on February 27, 1948, in Lowell, Massachusetts. She grew up in Dracut, the oldest of five children, and raised in a Catholic home. Her mother was a seamstress who came to the United States from French-speaking Canada and her father founded Boy Scouts of America Troop 80 at St. Theresa’s Church in Dracut. Diane spoke French fluently throughout her life and remained close to her faith and Franco-American heritage. She graduated from Dracut High School.
Diane married Ronald Beaudoin of Dracut and together they had two children, Guy and Nicole, whom she raised in Lowell, Massachusetts.
Diane worked for Sainte Jeanne D’Arc parish providing cooking and household services for the priests. She also served for many years at the St. Joseph the Worker Shrine.
Quilting was Diane’s artistic passion. She came to it through a family tradition of sewing. Her quilts were shown at the Lowell Quilt Museum and featured in many quilt shows and galleries across Greater Boston. Although she occasionally accepted commissions, she preferred to give her work away, making hundreds of quilts over her lifetime. She also taught quilting, regularly hosting evening classes in her “quilt room” with friends.
Diane was known for her bold laugh, generous hugs, and love of conversation. She enjoyed entertaining family and friends, cheering at her children’s sporting events, French music, and long talks with the many friends she had over her lifetime.
In her later years Diane lived with Parkinson’s disease and the complications associated with it. She faced it without complaint. Though the disease affected her ability to quilt, entertain, and do the things she loved, she never gave up on them.
Diane is survived by her son Guy Beaudoin and his wife Jordan of Farmington, CT; her daughter Nicole McCullough and her wife Lisa of Brockton, MA; her grandchildren Maya, Andrew, and Ava Beaudoin; her siblings Robert Dufour and wife Jeanine, Andre Dufour and his wife Sandy, Lise Roussell and her husband Michael, Jean “Dewey” Dufour and his wife Donna; and many loving nieces and nephews.
Calling hours will be held on Thursday, June 4, 2026, from 4:00-7:00 p.m. at the Tyngsborough Funeral Home, 4 Cassaway Drive, Tyngsborough.
