Claire F. (Sarault) St. Gelais, a longtime resident of Dracut, passed away on Thursday, August 28, 2025, one day shy of her 95th birthday. She was the wife of the late Narcisse G. “Blackie” St. Gelais.
Born in Lowell on August 29, 1930, she was a daughter of the late Henry L. and Gertrude (Geary) Sarault. Claire was a graduate of Lowell High School class of 1949.
She worked at the former Giant store in Downtown Lowell for many years and then for Stop & Shop for 38 years as well as Jeanne d’Arc Credit Union for over 19 years.
Claire enjoyed dancing and bowling; and was an avid Red Sox Fan and N.E. Patriots fan. She loved her family and always looked forward to spending time with family and friends.
She is survived by a son and daughter-in-law, Randall and Patricia Sporleder of Dracut; a daughter and son-in-law, Kimberly and David Collins of Lowell; four grandchildren, Derek Sporleder, Ashley Sporleder, Hannah Collins and Patrick Collins; several nieces and nephews and many dear friends.
She was also the sister of the late June Sarault, Rita Howe, Henry Sarault and Frances Brunelle and dear friend of the late Charles Grady.
Relatives and friends will be received at the TYNGSBOROUGH FUNERAL HOME 4 Cassaway Dr., Tyngsborough on Thursday, Sept. 4, from 4 to 8 p.m. Her Funeral Mass will be celebrated on Friday morning at 10 a.m. at St. Francis of Assisi Parish, 115 Wheeler Rd., Dracut. Committal services will follow in St. Joseph’s Cemetery, Chelmsford.
