Carol L. (Lebengood) Norris

Carol L. Norris, a beloved resident of Jaffrey, New Hampshire for three years passed away peacefully on July 19, 2025. She was born on April 27, 1942, in Philadelphia to Edward and Margaret May Lebengood.

Carol graduated from high school in 1960 and pursued some college before marrying Henry A. Norris Jr., a music teacher. Henry was also the organist at the Roslyn Presbyterian Church where they both attended as well as directed and sang in the choir. Their 59-year marriage began on March 16, 1963, until Henry’s passing on July 11, 2022.

In 1973, Carol, Henry, and their three children moved from Pennsylvania to Tyngsboro, Massachusetts, to live with Henry’s aunt, Bessie Norris, in a longtime family home. Carol cherished Henry and their children and after raising them began to teach and care for children of various area pre-schools for many years.

Carol served with Henry in the music ministry at the Dunstable Evangelical Congregational Church for over 40 years. She played the piano, directed, and sang in choirs of all types.  They both deeply loved their church family. Carol delighted in welcoming family, friends and the unexpected visitor to her seasonally decorated home, where she loved to serve cookies and other baked treats.

Carol’s life was marked by love for her husband, children, extended family, church family, and community. Carol is survived by her three children: Peter (Vicki) Norris, Andy (Brooke) Norris, and Julie (Bill) McGonagle, as well as her sister, Ruth (Thomas) Moran. She also has nine grandchildren: Matt Norris, Jon (Christin Love) Norris, Lauren (Jesse) Smith, Jessica (Jeremy) Freeborn, Natalie (Robert) Phelps, Tom Norris, Sarah (Sean) Grimes, Connor McGonagle, Nicole McGonagle, and four great-grandchildren: Mason Norris, Olivia Norris, Jace Smith, and Carver Smith.

There will be no public viewing or visitation. Instead, a private burial service will be held at the Sherburne Cemetery in Tyngsboro, Massachusetts. A family and friends time of remembrance and reception will be held at the Dunstable Evangelical Church at 2:00pm on August 4, 2025.
