Blanche E. Obdens
Blanche E. (Minton) Obdens, age 89, a resident of Lowell, passed away on Friday, December 16, 2022, at her home, surrounded by her loving family. She was the beloved wife of the late Richard F. Obdens, Sr. who passed in 1993.
Born in Lowell on November 24, 1933, she was a daughter of the late Richard J. and Florence (Robichaud) Minton Sr. As a young child they moved to Maine where she was educated in the Norridgewock, ME elementary school system and was a graduate of Skowhegan High School in Maine after which they moved back to Lowell, MA.
Blanche’s priority in life was her family. She also enjoyed trips to the beach and to the mountains, crocheting, knitting, quilting and watching sports. She looked forward to spending time with her family and loved spoiling them. Blanche was a very kind and compassionate person, who was always there to assist others in need.
Prior to her retirement, she was employed as an Occupational therapist and an Activities Director at D’Youville Manor, for over 30 years. During that time she had put on several holiday shows to include Mothers Day for the residents who were not able to go out with their own families, she brought her husband and her own 5 children in to participate in the Mothers Day activities. She also assisted in the Christmas Midnight Mass at D’Youville’s Chapel and participated in the traditional pie feast at the end of Mass. Upon her retirement, she volunteered/assisted the retired nuns and volunteered at Elizabeth’s Closet until 2019. She was also a member of the Ladies Guild at D’Youville Manor.
She is survived by a son, Richard F. Obdens Jr. of Lowell; three daughters, Bonnie Cormier of Manchester, NH, Rebecca Obdens of Lowell and Denise Nutt of Manchester, NH; thirteen grandchildren, twenty six great grandchildren and a great great grandchild; as well as many nieces and nephews.
She was also the mother of the late Daniel Obdens, mother-in-law of the late Charles Nutt and sister of the late Robert, Richard and Donald Minton, Florence Sifferlen, Marjorie Clement, Nancy Minton and Shirley Minton.
Relatives and friends will be received on Wednesday, Dec. 21, from 3 to 7 p.m. at the TYNGSBOROUGH FUNERAL HOME, 4 Cassaway Drive, Tyngsborough. Her Funeral Mass will be celebrated on Thursday morning at 10 a.m. at St. Mary Magdalen Parish, Lakeview Ave., Tyngsborough. Burial will follow in St. Mary Cemetery, Tewksbury.
