Barry A. Mareiro, Sr.
Barry A. Mareiro, Sr., age 85, a resident of Hudson, NH, passed away on Saturday, July 9, 2022, at the High Pointe Hospice House in Haverhill. He was the beloved husband of Annette B. (Gratton) Mareiro, with whom he shared 66 years of marriage.
Born in New Bedford, MA on October 24, 1936, he was a son of the late Antone and Natalie (Perry) Mareiro.
He was educated in the Fairhaven School system and was a graduate of Fairhaven High School. He later attended Newbury Jr. College, where he received an associate’s degree.
Barry was a proud Veteran of the Vietnam War having begun his long service career in 1954 with the U.S. Marines Corps, and later transferring to the U.S. Air Force, until his honorable discharge in 1974 with the rank of Technical Sergeant.
Prior to his retirement, he was employed as a computer service technician at Hanscom Air Force Base in Bedford.
He enjoyed woodworking and making rocking chairs, cradles, rocking horses and American Girl Doll furniture for his family. He also enjoyed traveling and camping trips with the RV.
Barry will always be remembered as a wonderful family man who loved and deeply cared for his family.
Surviving him in addition to his loving wife Annette are their children, Barry Jr. and his wife Diane of Hudson, NH, Wayne and his wife Lisa of Pepperell, Ronald and his fiancé Liz Benoit of Nashua, NH, Cheryl Watson and her husband Richard of Surf City, NC and Karen Tasker and her husband Jon of Kittery, ME; a daughter-in-law, Michele Mareiro of Phoenix, AZ; seventeen grandchildren, Danielle, David, Lauren, Brian, Craig, Jesse, Megan, Matthew, Alyssa, Justin, Cheyanne, Noelle, Carly, Sophie, Colby, Samantha and Shannon; thirteen great grandchildren, Tess, Jase, Andrew, Charlotte, Margaret, Aidan, Alea, Adysen, Arianna, Ashtyn, Jacob, Amelia and Angeliqua; a brother and sister-in-law, Anthony and Diane Mareiro of Rochester, MA; a sister, Beverly Lewis of Fairhaven, MA and several nieces and nephews. He was also the father of the late Dennis Mareiro.
