Barbara M. (Robarge) Coutu, age 84, a longtime resident of Tyngsborough, passed away suddenly at her home on Tuesday, February 18, 2025.
Born in Lowell on May 7, 1940, she was a daughter of Albert and Gertrude (Coderre) Robarge, and sister of Richard “Skippy” Robarge, Raymond Robarge, Joseph “Sonny” Robarge, Dorothy “Dot” Bergfors and Theresa Robarge.
Barbara was a devoted wife to her late husband Roland R Coutu, the one and only love of her life. Together, they devoted all their time, energy, and kindness, raising their children, who came first and foremost in their daily lives.
Barbara and Roland were a team when it came to caring for their boys and girls. Mom would always be cooking a big meal, while dad was taking the children to church on Sundays; they were both on hand parents. Dad could be found teaching the boys about cars and mom curling the girl’s hair, making cupcakes, showing how to peel an apple without ever breaking the peel in one shot, which was truly amazing when you were little. They treated their children as the individuals that they were and they never took a break from family, especially from their many grandchildren and several great grandchildren.
She enjoyed flowers and gardening indoors and outdoors. She couldn’t wait till spring to see the flowers sprout up from the ground and to plant the never-ending supply of flowering shrubs and hanging plants from her grandchildren on special days. She also loved feeding and watching the birds making sure they always had food. She had lots of fun going out with her granddaughters to eat at the turkey farm and shopping at home goods. Reading novels and looking through home magazines was also a past time. There are many laughs and memories to cherish.
She is survived by her children, Roland Coutu of Pepperell, Roger Coutu of Tyngsboro, Susan Gordon of Tyngsboro, Diane Ducharme of Temple, NH, Charlene Coutu and Raymond Coutu. Her grandchildren Joel, Jason and Tricia Ducharme, Mandy, Melinda and Kenny Gordon, Roger Coutu, Raymond, Timothy and Jake Coutu, Jessie and Tiffany Coutu, Roland, Ryan and Brandon Coutu, Austin James Coutu and Brendon Bellrose
The kindness and devotion continue in our hearts when we think about the times passed; we know she is now in a better place and at peace.
Relatives and friends will be received at the TYNGSBOROUGH FUNERAL HOME, 4 Cassaway Dr., Tyngsborough on Sunday, March 2, from 12 noon to 2 p.m. A prayer service will take place in the Funeral Home immediately following the visitation at 2 p.m.
