Richard Bator Obituary

Richard A. Bator

 Loving husband, father and grandfather

HUDSON, NH – Richard A. Bator, age 75, a longtime resident of Hudson, NH, passed away peacefully on Thursday, April 11th, 2019 at the Community Hospice House in Merrimack.  He was the beloved husband of Patricia A. (McAweeney) Bator with whom he shared 30 years of marriage.

Born in Springfield, MA on June 23, 1943, he was the son of the late Alphonse J. and Anna (Boska) Bator.

Richard had a brilliant mind.  He was a Mathematics graduate of Massachusetts Institute for Technology (MIT) and earned a Master’s degree from Northeastern University.  Prior to his retirement, he worked as a computer engineer for Digital and Compaq as well as an independent consultant for various firms.  Early on, Dick enjoyed playing the saxophone.  He was a master bridge player and traveled extensively to many tournaments over the years.  He was a kind and loving man who was happiest entertaining family and close friends.  He especially enjoyed watching the Red Sox, Patriots and Celtics play on television.  He was also an avid fan of “Jeopardy” and enjoyed playing along with the contestants.  Most recently his greatest joy was spending time with his great-grandson, who certainly kept him on his toes!

In addition to his wife Patricia, survivors include his two sons, Christopher Bator of CA and Jeff Bator of NV; two stepsons, Alan Sousa of Idaho and Scott Sousa and his wife Lauraine of Hudson, NH; eight grandchildren, Kelsey Sousa of Hudson, Julian and Eliza Sousa of Idaho, Nathan Davan and Kristen Kather of Hudson, Ashley Davan of Gilmington, David and Christopher Munson of Hudson, and one great-grandson, Joshua Jambard of Hudson. He is also survived by two brothers and a sister-in-law, John Bator of MA and Edward and Ann Bator of FL.

Relatives and friends will be received at the TYNGSBOROUGH FUNERAL HOME, 4 Cassaway Drive, Tyngsborough, MA on Wednesday afternoon from 3-6 p.m.  In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations in his remembrance to Community Hospice House, 210 Naticook Road, Merrimack, NH 03054. For online condolences or directions, please visit www.tyngsboroughfuneralhome.com.
