Loving mother and grandmother

Mrs. Esther S. (Suvanto) Pierce, age 92, a longtime resident of Nashua, passed on November 29, 2017 at her home.  She was the wife of the late James E. Pierce who passed in 1989.  

Born in Brockton, MA on January 21, 1925, she was the daughter of the late Evert and Sally S. (Matas) Suvanto.

She was a longtime member of the Trinity Lutheran Church in Chelmsford.

Esther loved gambling, playing bingo and trips to Foxwoods.  She enjoyed camping and she was a wonderful cook, having made the best apple pies.  She also pursued many different hobbies throughout her life.

Prior to her retirement, she was employed as a nurse at Lowell General Hospital.

Surviving her are a daughter, Patricia A. Sturtevant of Hollis, NH; a son, James R. “Rick” Pierce of Hollis, NH; five grandchildren, Jonah Sturtevant, Amy Sturtevant-Lopez, Amanda Lyn Pierce, Jessica Eve Pierce and Mitchel A. Pierce; and four great grandchildren, Rebecca A. Lopez, Isaias L. Lopez, Maximus S. Sturtevant and Lucas J. Sturtevant.

Visiting hours will be held on Friday from 4 to 7 p.m. at the TYNGSBOROUGH FUNERAL HOME, 4 Cassaway Dr., Tyngsborough.  He funeral service will be held on Saturday morning at 11 a.m. in the Trinity Lutheran Church, 170 Old Westford Rd., Chelmsford.  Please meet at Church.  Burial will be held privately in Marion, MA.  Those wishing may make a memorial donation to the Epilepsy Foundation New England, 335 Main St., #8, Wilmington, MA 01887 or the Parkinson’s Foundation, 1359 Broadway, Suite 1509, New York, NY 10018.  For online condolences or directions, please visit www.tyngsboroughfuneralhome.com
