Loving husband and father
TYNGSBOROUGH – Mario J. Sousa, age 55, a resident of Tyngsborough and a former resident of Lowell, passed away on Tuesday, January 23, 2018, at Massachusetts General Hospital with his wife and daughters by his side. He was the beloved husband of Leonilde “Linda” (Ferreira) Sousa.
Born in Povoa Da Rainha, Portugal, on November 15, 1962, he was a son of Manuel Sousa of Portugal and the late Alcina (Almeida) Sousa.
Mario was raised and received his education in Portugal where he earned a bachelor’s degree in accounting.
Prior to moving to Tyngsborough, Mario lived in Lowell for many years, where he and his wife Linda raised their two daughters.
He was employed by Industrial Floor Coverings in Chelmsford for over 25 years.
Very proud of his Portuguese heritage, he was an active member at the Portuguese American Civic League Red’s Club in Lowell.
Mario enjoyed fishing, gardening, and listening to Portuguese Music. He was always willing to lend a helping hand with no hesitation. He was an avid sports fan; with Sporting, being his favorite soccer team. But, it was spending time with his family that meant the most to him.
Surviving him in addition to his wife Linda and father Manuel are his two daughters, Daniela Sousa and her significant other Benjamin Pacheco of Tyngsborough, MA and Alexandra Sousa and her significant other Caleb Anderson of Nashua, NH; a brother and sister in law, Rui Sousa and Paula Amaral of Germany; a sister, Rosa Sousa of Germany; his brothers in law and sisters in law, Lucia and Alberto Oliveira of Portugal, Maria and Laurindo Nogueira of Lowell, Luis Ferreira of Lowell, Alice and Jose Pais of Lowell, Rosa and Glenn Pimentel of Tyngsborough, Joe and Joyce Ferreira of Lowell and Aurora Ferreira of Lowell; also several nieces and nephews in Portugal and the United States.

Relatives and friends may call at the TYNGSBOROUGH FUNERAL HOME 4 Cassaway Dr., Tyngsborough on Friday from 4 to 8 p.m. Funeral Saturday morning with a Funeral Mass to be celebrated at 10 a.m. in St. Anthony Catholic Church, 893 Central St., Lowell.
